French 111 – – 1st Semester HW Policy:
1. During 1st semester you will get 12 “grace” slips for late HW. (If you have some BIG reason, like major illness or a death in the family – then come and talk to me). If you absolutely cannot hand in your HW on time, you may attach the “grace” slip to the assignment when you hand it in – one slip for each day of tardiness. In other words, I will accept 12 HW assignments 1 day late without penalty. [NOTE: If you are absent, you do not need to attach a grace slip, but, the HW that was due on the day of your absence, must be handed in the day that you return to class.]
Besides a given day’s written HW assignment, these slips may also be used for a journal submission, or test correction due date – 1 for each day of tardiness. Test corrections are due two days after the test has been handed back.
NOTE: HW can still be handed in without a grace slip – but it can not get more than ½ credit.
2. All HW assignments for the previous chapter need to be fully completed (with a score of 10) by the test date of the subsequent chapter test. i.e. When the test is given for Chap. 2, all HW assignments for Chap. 1 need to be fully done and corrected. After the Chap. 2 test, it is TOO LATE to hand anything in from Chap. 1.
3. There is a big incentive for not using your slips. Each slip that you have left over at the end of the semester is worth ½ point of extra credit to be applied to your final exam – for a possibility of 6 extra points. Hand them in on the last day of class.
