Does Singing in Different Languages Make a Difference in How Coronavirus Particles are Spread? Are Some Languages More Dangerous Than Others?

by Irene

We are now more than a year into the COVID pandemic that has changed life for everyone. I thought I would write a Blog post in that vein.

It is well known that the reason people wear masks during this pandemic is to lessen the spread of aerosol particles that may be laden with the Coronavirus. These particles are emitted when we breathe and talk.

But what about singing? And even more interestingly, might there be a difference in the number of aerosol particles emitted depending on which language is being sung? Think about that and then decide for yourself before you read the story in the following link from CBS News on research done recently in Japan.
